Our new outdoor pond area is in and it did not take long for word to get around.
The birds arrived first, then the insects and then, to a great deal of excitement in the yard, a frog. He has settled in and shows no sign of going anywhere. The children check on him on the way past most mornings and he is holding up well under the attention.
A pond is one of those things that teaches without anyone having to plan a lesson. Children notice what has changed since last week, they ask why and the answer usually leads somewhere worth going. We think it will be one of the busiest corners of the grounds.
More from the pond as the year goes on.
